Anxiety Management Therapy Group…

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – February 19, 2014 – Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Southern Jersey (JFCS) invites men and women ages 30 – 70 who have difficulty with stress, anxiety, and excessive worry to an Anxiety Management Therapy Group that starts on March 20. The session will last 12 weeks and is at the Katz Jewish Community Campus on Springdale Rd from 5:30 – 6:45 PM. The session will include topics related to anxiety management and will be structured as a discussion-oriented and skill development experience.

“Stress and worry are the by-products of anxiety,” says Sandy Kabel, Conseling Clinician at JFCS. “If left unchecked these mental states can create self-doubt and begin to interfere with out ability to relax and enjoy life. Learning how to harness your body and mine to tame anxiety can change your experience of helplessness and fear and improve the moments of each day. I want to share great information about the biology and brain science of anxiety and the coping tools that can reduce your tension and increase your effectiveness in life. This group will offer a great way to gain this information and skill in a supportive peer atmosphere. It will be a valuable experience for anyone who choose to participate.”

Anxiety is an unpleasant state of turmoil, often accompanied by nervous behavior, such as pacing back and fourth, somatic complaints and rumination. Anxiety can become a mental disorder that is characterized by excessive, uncontrollable and often irrational worry about everyday things that is disproportionate to the actual source of worry. Anxiety can also be experienced in many ways, which include changes in sleeping patterns, nervous habits, and increased motor tension like foot tapping. Anxiety can also cause emotional effects and cognitive effects.

Benefits of the Anxiety Management Therapy Group include having the opportunity to share personal challenges and gain support and learn coping methods that reduce anxiety and stress. For more information, or to register to attend, please call Intake Coordinator, Meri Seligman, 856-424-1333, Ext. 1177, or email mseligman@jfedsnj.org.
