Sunday afternoon began the official site visit for our Council on Accreditation review as they conducted an electronic record review. This went very well and the visitors commented on the ease of use with our new software FAMcare. Thank you to Meredith Cohen and Rena Essrog for leading this effort with the amazing assistance of Marsha Becker and guidance of Jen Weiss. All of the JFCS staff have played a tremendous role for which we are most appreciative!
Other exciting news:
• We are thrilled to announce that our JFCS is one of 14 in the country that has been selected as a site to host an AmeriCorps VISTA fellow for the 2015 fiscal year. Once recruited and hired, the VISTA will concentrate their efforts on the Holocaust Survivor population through research, networking and outreach/education. We will be sharing our VISTA with the Goodwin Holocaust Museum and Education Center in a unique partnership that will benefit both JFCS and JCRC.
• JFCS will be conducting our annual training of the JCC Camp in Medford CITs at the end of June. The JFCS social work team will teach the counselors about conflict resolution, eating disorders and physical boundaries. The JCC camp and JFCS staff have worked on this orientation program for many years and it has been an important and successful part of the CIT training experience.
